2020 Annual Meeting

Cave Spring National Little League’s 2020 Annual Meeting will take place Sunday, September 13 at 4:00pm. To allow for social distancing, we will meet outdoors, at the Starkey Park North Concession stand.

During the Annual Meeting we will provide an update on the state of the league, a financial report and per our Constitution, Regular Members in good standing will be invited to vote for a new board of directors for the 2021 season. Please note: if you are a Regular Member, you have received a separate invitation via email.

We will also be asking our Regular Members to vote to approve a change that could be very beneficial for families living in the Cave Spring area. Over the past year, members of the board of directors of Cave Spring National Little League and Cave Spring American Little League have been working together to create a unified Little League program in our area. Members of our respective boards met several times during the 2019-2020 offseason to create a single set of local playing rules and prior to the cancellation of the 2020 spring season we had planned to play a full interleague schedule, across all divisions.

As we formed this new partnership, we came to the realization that our leagues would be stronger if we joined forces. That’s why, during this year’s Annual Meeting, we will be asking our Regular Members to vote to approve the unification of Cave Spring National Little League and Cave Spring American Little League to form Cave Spring Little League. There are several benefits to this potential unification.

a.     Players will no longer be separated from their schoolmates based on which boundary they live in. All players eligible for CSNLL or CSALL will play in the same league.

b.     Parents will no longer have to worry about mistakenly registering their child in the wrong league. We will serve all of the Little League families in the Cave Spring area.

c.     An increased player pool will allow us to field more regular season teams in each division, ensuring more variety of opponents.

d.     An increased player pool will allow us to form stronger all-star teams, giving us a better chance to advance to the Virginia State Tournament and Little League World Series.

e.     A unified league will allow us to negotiate better deals when purchasing equipment and other league supplies.

f.      Local business that would like to support Little League in the Cave Spring area will no longer have to work with two separate leagues to coordinate sponsorships.

These are just some of the benefits of the potential formation of Cave Spring Little League. We welcome your suggestions and feedback at the Annual Meeting and look forward to seeing you there.
